BRANDON, Man. – A Pro Series first will conclude the season on Tuesday, April 18 as pianist Murray McLachlan’s North American tour brings him to the Lorne Watson Recital Hall at Brandon University (BU) for a performance.
For his Pro Series debut, McLachlan will present his own transcription of Bagatelles for clarinet by Gerald Finzi, as well as the Canadian premiere of a work by British composer, Ronald Stevenson.

The 2017 edition of Brandon University’s New Music Festival will draw to a close on Tuesday evening with a final concert, featuring Instruments of Happiness.
A quartet of electric guitar players from Montreal – Jonathan Barriault, Simon Duschene and Marc-Olivier Lamontagne, led by founder and artistic director Tim Brady — Instruments of Happiness are stopping at Brandon University (BU) while on a cross-Canada tour.

This Sunday evening, March 26, Toronto-based Parmela Attariwala will launch the 2017 New Music Festival at Brandon University with her unique take on music creation and production. Attariwala, a composer, ethnomusicologist, violist and violinist, bends traditional rules of Western music as she incorporates the essence of dance and rhythms from Asia in an ongoing approach called The Attar Project.

BRANDON, Man. – A tuba player from Germany, a homegrown volleyball star, and a woman who has been an instructor in both astronomy and judo are just a few of the outstanding female students at Brandon University (BU) who will be honoured next week.
The celebration will help mark International Women’s Day on Wednesday, March 8. Members of the BU faculty and staff have nominated 24 students who are being recognized for their accomplishments in their studies and in their communities.

BRANDON, Man. – The Pro Series premiere of the Manitoba Trombone Collective will take place on Tuesday, Feb. 28 at Brandon University’s (BU’s) Lorne Watson Recital Hall.
Comprised of top-notch trombonists, the group will present a programme of chamber music in a range of styles and genres.

Brandon University (BU) has reached agreements through the approval and support of the City of Brandon and Renaissance Brandon to expand its downtown footprint significantly.
“This is a truly exciting opportunity that we are ready to seize,” said BU President Dr. Gervan Fearon.
