BRANDON – Polaris Music Prize winner Jeremy Dutcher will visit Brandon University (BU) to conclude the 2018-19 pro series season on Tuesday, March 5.

The Toronto-based musician will also take part in a workshop on Monday, March 4, presented by the Institute for Research in Music and Community at BU.
A former artist in residence at the National Music Centre (NMC), Dutcher was awarded the 2018 Polaris Music Prize, recognizing outstanding Canadian recordings, for his album “Wolastoqiyik Lintuwakonawa.” Dutcher will follow his current tour of Western Canada by performing in Europe in April.

BRANDON – The community is invited to help Brandon University (BU) kick off International Women’s Day celebrations early by honouring 19 outstanding female students at a reception next week.
The students will be presented with a certificate of commendation at a reception on Thursday, March 7. The reception will begin at 4:30 p.m.
Every midwinter, the pro series shines a spotlight on many brilliant performers who are also Brandon University (BU) faculty members.
In this season’s edition, the offerings feature various instrumental groupings, while spanning genres and styles, from the 19th, 20th and 21st centuries.
Writer, educator and activist Dr. Niigaan Sinclair will visit Brandon University (BU) for a free public talk on Monday, Feb. 4.
Dr. Sinclair’s presentation, Forgetting to Dream: Reconciliation in Reverse, will begin at 6 p.m. at the Lorne Watson Recital Hall, in the Queen Elizabeth II Music Building.
The much lauded piano quartet Ensemble Made In Canada (EMIC) will perform the next concert in the pro series season at Brandon University (BU).
The pro series concert will take place on Tuesday, Jan. 29, at 7:30 p.m.
More than 1,100 collective years of commitment to Brandon University were recognized on Thursday, during BU’s annual Long Service Recognition event at Harvest Hall.
During the event 63 members of the BU faculty, staff and administration were presented with pins in appreciation of their service for terms ranging from 10 to 45 years.
BRANDON – Brandon University’s (BU’s) pro series will bring in Winnipeg-based Baroque choir Canzona for their first-ever Brandon performance on Tuesday, Dec. 4.
Under the direction of Kathleen Allan, Canzona will perform at Knox United Church. Joining the signers on the stage will be the Pacific Baroque Orchestra (PBO), with conductor Alexander Weimann.

This Sunday, Nov. 25, the Brandon University (BU) Concert Choir will perform Promised Land, by BU composer T. Patrick Carrabré.
Written to incorporate a soprano soloist, choir, percussion, piano and audio clips, this work combines traditional choral singing and speech, along with extended piano techniques and bell strings handmade by the choir.
BRANDON – A Juno Award winner and rising star on the Canadian jazz scene will bring his distinctive drumming style to the Brandon University (BU) School of Music’s pro series.
On Monday, Nov. 5, Ethan Ardelli will perform his newly released compositions with his Toronto-based quartet, which includes alto saxophonist Luis Deniz, pianist Chris Donnelly, and bassist Devon Henderson.
