BRANDON – Brandon University’s (BU’s) biggest Homecoming yet begins with a full evening of activities this Thursday, Oct. 11.
With the theme Forever Blue & Gold, Homecoming 2018 is a four-day community celebration, capping a year of events that mark the 50th anniversary of BU’s first year as a university. The Class of 1968, the first graduates to receive BU degrees, will be recognized at the Dinner and Awards on Saturday night.
BRANDON – Two Toronto-based jazz musicians — saxophonist Tara Davidson and her spouse, trombonist William Carn — are back in Brandon after a three-year absence to kick off both the 2018–19 pro series and their Western Canadian tour.

BRANDON — The fourth week of July will mark the 13th season of the Clear Lake Chamber Music Festival, under the artistic direction of pianists Alexander Tselyakov and Daniel Tselyakov. This year’s Festival will include five concerts: four chamber concerts and a jazz concert.
With the symbolic shift of a tassel from one side of their mortarboards to the other, nearly 600 Brandon University students became Brandon University graduates, receiving their degrees at today’s Convocation ceremonies. It was Brandon University’s largest graduating class in six years.

Two ceremonies at BU’s Healthy Living Centre (HLC) will confer degrees on 583 graduates.
A brand-new grand piano for the Brandon University School of Music will provide quality music for students, faculty and the community for decades to come, and will permanently recognize the legacy of Dr. Elizabeth Grant at BU.
Grant originally founded the Brandon Conservatory Chorale in 1981 as a project for her Master’s in Music degree. Since then, it has grown from just 14 members to peak at well over 100 choristers, and has been subdivided into various youth choirs, with singers ranging in age from 5-18, both male and female.
Next week’s Digital Strategies for Musicians conference at Brandon University will include two free evening presentations that are open to the public. Sponsored by BU’s Institute for Research in Music and Community (IRMC), with support from the new Digital Strategy Fund at the Canada Council for the Arts, the conference is designed to assist musicians in better connecting with their audiences.
Dorothea Hayley, soprano, and Manuel Laufer, piano, will appear in Brandon on Tuesday.
After a succession of superb concerts, the 2017–18 pro series closes the books on another memorable season with one final presentation.
Winners of the annual School of Music Concerto Competition will be featured as the Brandon University (BU) Orchestra performs its final concert of the academic year on Saturday evening.
The concert will begin at 8 p.m.
