BRANDON, MB – A globally-recognized entrepreneur is returning to Brandon University (BU) this weekend to speak about his revolutionary new business venture in which citizens would be rewarded by the Canadian government for making healthy or responsible lifestyle choices.
Andreas Souvaliotis is an expert on social responsibility and a best-selling author who graduated from BU in 1984 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Science.

BRANDON, MB – Dr. Jim Parrott has known hardship. Raised in Oak Lake, MB, in the years following World War ll by a single mother on social assistance, he persevered to graduate from Brandon College (now Brandon University) in 1964, becoming a distinguished heart surgeon, medical teacher and politician.

BRANDON, MB – One of Canada’s prominent family-owned companies is making the largest single private donation to-date to the Healthy Living Centre at Brandon University (BU), a gift which will reach $500,000 when fully realized by matching contributions from the community.
The Richardson Foundation – the giving arm of James Richardson & Sons, Limited and Affiliated Companies across Canada: Richardson International, Tundra Oil & Gas Limited, Richardson GMP Limited and Richardson Centre Limited – has donated $250,000 and has also pledged to match every dollar raised by BU in 2014 for the Healthy Living Centre (HLC), up to an additional $250,000. In recognition of this generous gift, the main gymnasium in the state-of-the-art HLC will be named Richardson Gymnasium.

BRANDON, MB – Brandon University (BU) is pleased to announce the creation of a new scholarship for female athletes, through a $10,000 gift by BU alumnus Brian Pallister, Leader of the Progressive Conservative Party of Manitoba and Member of the Legislative Assembly for Fort Whyte.

The Pallister Women’s Athletic Scholarship will be awarded to a member of one of the Bobcats Women’s teams on the basis of athletic promise.

Andreas Souvaliotis, author of Misfit: Changemaker with an Edge, has been recognized by social responsibility leaders from around the world, including The Prince of Wales, for achievements in influencing and rewarding behaviour change on a mass scale, including creating Air Miles for Social Change, the world’s first social venture built inside a loyalty rewards program.

“Since graduating in 1963, I have rarely missed a Homecoming,” says Butler, who was born in a house right across the street from BU, or Brandon College as it was known back then.

BRANDON, MB – Exceptional musicians from around the world are returning to Brandon for the week-long Augustfest Homecoming Concert Series, an annual festival featuring performers who were either raised or studied music in southwestern Manitoba.

Highlights this year will include baritone Hugh Russell, a native of Rivers MB, who has performed with the Danish Radio Symphony, Los Angeles Philharmonic and  the Naples Philharmonic; pianist Sergei Saratovsky, a Russian-born graduate of Brandon University’s School of Music, who has played to audiences in Canada, Russia Portugal, the US and Australia.

BRANDON, MB – Three Brandon University (BU) alumni lived the musician’s dream last week, performing in New York City at prestigious Carnegie Hall.
Sarah Hallikas, Annelise Hawrylak and Mitchell Wedgewood appeared on the world renowned stage February 18th with the Toronto-based Eastminster United Church Choir, a 30 voice ensemble selected to take part in a musical production by Distinguished Concerts Singers International.
