BRANDON, MB – One of Canada’s prominent family-owned companies is making the largest single private donation to-date to the Healthy Living Centre at Brandon University (BU), a gift which will reach $500,000 when fully realized by matching contributions from the community.
The Richardson Foundation – the giving arm of James Richardson & Sons, Limited and Affiliated Companies across Canada: Richardson International, Tundra Oil & Gas Limited, Richardson GMP Limited and Richardson Centre Limited – has donated $250,000 and has also pledged to match every dollar raised by BU in 2014 for the Healthy Living Centre (HLC), up to an additional $250,000. In recognition of this generous gift, the main gymnasium in the state-of-the-art HLC will be named Richardson Gymnasium.
BRANDON, MB – Following an exhaustive cross-Canada search, the Brandon University (BU) Board of Governors takes great pride in announcing that Dr. Gervan Fearon begins a five year appointment as President and Vice-Chancellor, effective August 1st, 2014.

Currently the Vice-President (Academic and Provost), Dr. Fearon joined BU in 2013 as part of the senior executive team, developing and promoting academic programming and research advancement, and overseeing the University’s Faculties, Student and Registrarial Services, Library Services, and Information Technology Services.

Florence Brownridge graduated Brandon College in 1949, and pursued a distinguished career in social work in both Canada and the US. Doug Adams devoted nearly 20 consecutive years of volunteer service to BU in a number of capacities, following his graduation in 1987.
“In their own ways, each of these recipients has demonstrated exceptional, long-time service to Brandon University and its values,” says BU President and Vice-Chancellor, Deborah Poff.

BRANDON, MB – The Rural Development Institute (RDI) at Brandon University (BU) today received $110,000 in funding from the Manitoba government, to assist in new community initiatives including a study of opportunities in Manitoba’s food processing industry.

The installment is the third in a five-year, $545,000 funding agreement between RDI and Manitoba Agriculture, Food and Rural Development (MAFRD).
