Longtime community leader, physician, and Brandon University supporter Dr. Bill Myers was honoured Wednesday with the Brandon University Foundation Honorary Trustee Apex Award, the Foundation’s highest recognition for meritorious service and outstanding leadership.

The award was presented during the Brandon University Foundation Annual Luncheon, held at the Victoria Inn.

“I think this award is primarily one for longevity,” Dr. Myers laughed, adding that he was proud to be in his fifth term serving the Foundation.

The Brandon University Foundation has reached a historic milestone, surpassing $100 million in total assets for the first time in its history. This follows a banner year of donor support in 2025, with new high-water marks for donations to the Annual Fund appeal and disbursements back to Brandon University for academic, institutional, and student support.

Some of Brandon University’s most committed supporters were recognized with heartfelt praises at the annual BU Foundation luncheon last week.

Donors to the BU Foundation heard directly from students who had felt the impact of their support, as well as from BU breast cancer researcher Dr. Mousumi Majumder.

A dedicated board member and volunteer who has devoted countless hours of service to Brandon University will receive the prestigious Apex Award from the Brandon University Foundation.
Jeff Cristall, who says his earliest memories of BU were lending a hand as a kid from the sidelines for the then-College Caps football squad in the 1960s, most recently served three consecutive terms on the BU Foundation board, including as President of the BU Foundation from 2015–17.
The BU Foundation is responsible for fundraising on behalf of Brandon University, and of stewarding the resulting endowments and donated funds.

BRANDON – An anonymous couple has found a fitting, and very generous, way to recognize Brandon University’s (BU’s) 50th year.
The couple gifted shares to the University valued at approximately $50,000. Written on the donation form was, “Happy Birthday BU!”
“Brandon University is a high-quality jewel, a treasure,” said one of the donors.

BRANDON, MB – MNP is honouring the memory of Shawn de Delley, a long-time MNP employee and supporter of Brandon University (BU), with a significant bursary to assist students enrolled in the University’s Bachelor of Business Administration program.
MNP’s gift of $25,000 will be matched with an equal amount from the Manitoba Scholarship and Bursary Initiative (MSBI).

BRANDON, MB – Two outstanding community builders were among those honoured during the Brandon University Foundation Annual Luncheon, which recognizes the many who have helped advance higher education at Brandon University over the past year. Dr. Bill Myers was named Outstanding Volunteer Fundraiser and Pat Britton received the BU Honourary Trustee Apex Award.
