As the BU community is aware the ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) software implementation project, initiated in 2020, did not achieve its expected outcomes. To address this, an independent review has been planned to review the project’s challenges, identify lessons learned, and guide future initiatives.
Brandon University is saddened to learn of the passing of William “Bill” Potter, a dedicated educator, librarian, and former Chair of BU’s Board of Governors. Bill passed away on February 15, 2025, at the age of 84.
A proud BU alumnus, Bill earned both his Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Education degrees here before going on to a distinguished career in school libraries.
Brandon University President Dr. David Docherty has notified the BU Board of Governors that he will conclude his second term as President in early 2026.
After notifying the board, he shared the information with campus in an email and at both the campus-wide Fall Address and General Faculty Council.

The renewal was unanimously approved by the BU Board of Governors at their June meeting, and an official contract was signed this week.
