The Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) will enhance both programming and accessibility for more than 9,500 students enrolled each year in post-secondary education in Brandon and the surrounding area.

BRANDON, MB – Following an exhaustive cross-Canada search, the Brandon University (BU) Board of Governors takes great pride in announcing that Dr. Gervan Fearon begins a five year appointment as President and Vice-Chancellor, effective August 1st, 2014.

Currently the Vice-President (Academic and Provost), Dr. Fearon joined BU in 2013 as part of the senior executive team, developing and promoting academic programming and research advancement, and overseeing the University’s Faculties, Student and Registrarial Services, Library Services, and Information Technology Services.

BRANDON, MB – Disaster movies, from the 1930s to today’s blockbusters, will be the topic of a new course at Brandon University (BU). Disaster Movies: Fact vs Fiction will explore the science and the myths portrayed in epic productions including Towering Inferno (1974), Twister (1996), and Contagion (2011).

Samantha Durnin, originally from Portage la Prairie, is taking part this week in the 5th Annual BBK Summer Academy, an emergency management conference organized by the German Federal Office of Civil Protection and Disaster Assistance (Bundesamt für Bevölkerungsschutz und Katastrophenhilfe BBK).

BRANDON, MB – Clothed in traditional cap and gown, 558 students received their degrees during graduation exercises at Brandon University (BU) on Friday, May 31st. Capacity crowds of more than 2500 people cheered the grads, during morning and afternoon programs in BU’s Healthy Living Centre.

BRANDON, MB – Three students from Brandon University (BU) will be continuing their education abroad this fall, after being accepted into a university exchange program involving some 200 institutions.
Kayla Koivisto, a third year student in BU’s Applied Disaster and Emergency Studies program, will attend University of Colorado at Colorado Springs, returning to BU for graduation in the spring of 2014.
