We are throwing open our doors at Brandon University (BU) to Grade 11 and 12 students from across the province this month.
“This is our first-ever Open House of this nature and we are really excited to welcome students, parents and family members to BU,” said Tom Brophy, Associate Vice-President (Student Services and Enrolment Management) and University Registrar.

BRANDON, MB – An imaginary line between countries served as a starting point as seventy students ran full force to grab one of the precious dodge-balls that lie in wait. The 4th annual Battle on the Border pitted students from Brandon University (BU) against Minot State University (MSU) in an afternoon of friendly dodge-ball this past Saturday at the International Peace Gardens, located between Manitoba and North Dakota.

Originally conceived for BU’s growing population of international students, Campus Christmas immediately became a campus-wide gathering with food and events for all students and University staff.

Digital Journalism will examine the current structures, organization, and practices of internet reporting, exploring whether we are shaping the tools in this field or the tools are now shaping our consumption of information and ultimately our critical thinking.

BRANDON, MB – Two Brandon University (BU) students are the first recipients of a new bursary to be awarded each year to post-secondary students of Aboriginal descent.
Kyla Smith, a second year Native Studies student, and Jacqueline Sinclair, in her final year of a Creative Arts degree, were presented with the Inter-provincial Association of Native Employment (IANE) Westman Bursary.

Fifteen month old Bailey Phillips was born with the virus Cytomegalovirus (CMV) and her own body is consuming blood platelets as fast as her bone marrow can produce them.

BRANDON, MB – A Brandon University (BU) nursing student will compete this weekend on CBC national television against an eclectic group of brilliant minds, in Canada’s Smartest Person.
“This is a once in a lifetime experience,” says 22-year old Alea Ciecko, a 4th year psychiatric nursing student at BU’s Winnipeg campus.

BRANDON, MB – A professor at Brandon University (BU) is spearheading a new initiative called Positive Space with the goal of making all people on campus feel respected and supported, regardless of sexual orientation or gender identity and expression.
Dr. Corinne L. Mason says Positive Space has proven successful at universities across Canada in raising the visibility and awareness of lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans*, two-spirit, queer and questioning, intersex, and asexual (LGBTTQQIA*) issues and concerns, while also establishing safer and more welcoming spaces for students, staff, and faculty.
