The Brandon University community is saddened to learn of the recent passing of Dr. Peter Letkeman, a distinguished chemist and professor who was also a longtime Dean of Science.
“As a member of the Western Manitoba Science Fair Executive, and as a scientist, I can say that his contribution to science in the community has been immense.

Brandon University (BU) researchers are exploring topics from underground artifacts to far-away galaxies thanks to more than $100,000 in BU Research Committee (BURC) funding.
BURC is providing $102,941 to support 27 projects during the 2019-20 period.

BRANDON – Ongoing shortages in N95 masks have motivated a Brandon University (BU) laboratory to partner with Brandon Clinic to develop a respirator that could be used to limit the spread of COVID-19.
Although cloth masks are recommended to control the spread of amongst the general population, these masks do not provide sufficient protection for medical staff where the risks of transmission of COVID-19 are the highest. These workers need to be shielded from the virus and require Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) of a much higher standard.

Staff from the Westman Women’s Shelter received supplies from Brandon Universities’ faculties of Health Studies and Science on Wednesday to help the non-profit organization’s efforts to contain COVID-19.
The Faculty of Health Studies and the Faculty of Science at Brandon University (BU) have answered the call to assist the non-profit sector in Brandon.
The two faculties collected items to help with the containment of COVID-19 and delivered them to the Westman Women’s Shelter and Meredith Place on Wednesday.

The public event is scheduled for Monday, Feb. 10 at 7 p.m.

A remarkable 50 years of service by Dr. Nancy Stanley was among the highlights as Brandon University recognized the efforts of longtime members of its faculty and staff on Thursday.
The University held its annual Long Service Employee Recognition Event, honouring those who reached benchmarks of 10, 15, 20, 25, 30, 35, 40, 45 or 50 years in 2019.
