BRANDON – Decorated astronaut, engineer and pilot Col. Chris Hadfield will launch Brandon University’s 50th anniversary Homecoming celebrations with a public keynote on Friday, Oct. 12.
“I am over the moon to welcome Col. Chris Hadfield to our Homecoming stage,” said Dr. Steven Robinson, Interim President of BU. “Every Canadian has been inspired by Col. Hadfield’s feats, and I look forward to hearing the academic, social and scientific insights he has gleaned from the rare perspective of Earth orbit.”
At the Friday evening keynote, Hadfield will speak on “An Astronaut’s Guide to Life on Earth,” showing the Brandon audience how to “think like an astronaut.

Students from Manitoba’s three universities presented some of their latest research on campus as Brandon University hosted the Winnipeg Institute for Theoretical Physics Summer Symposium yesterday.
At the daylong event, physics and math students presented work on magnetic monopoles, quantum state transfer, holographic superconductors, divergent integrals in quantum field theory, hypercubes, black holes and black hole firewall boundaries.
With the symbolic shift of a tassel from one side of their mortarboards to the other, nearly 600 Brandon University students became Brandon University graduates, receiving their degrees at today’s Convocation ceremonies. It was Brandon University’s largest graduating class in six years.

Nearly 650 students from 20 schools across western Manitoba have visited Brandon University (BU) this week to take part in fun and educational experiments as part of BU’s annual Experience Chemistry Week.

Areas that currently don’t have access to adequate mental health care will be receiving greater attention from researchers at Brandon University (BU) following the appointment of BU professor Dr. Rachel Herron as a Canada Research Chair (CRC).

The students were nominated by BU faculty and staff for their accomplishments and contributions academically and in the community.
