BRANDON, MB – Brandon University’s Faculty of Health Studies was recently bolstered by the donation of one hundred copies of a new work authored by one of Canada’s most celebrated internists. Gifted to BU by Chancellor Emeritus, Ryerson University, G. Raymond Chang and Donette Chin-Loy Chang, Dr. Herbert Ho Ping Kong’s The Art of Medicine: Healing and the Limits of Technology will provide students with insight into the core principles of Dr. Ho Ping Kong’s patient-centred approach to diagnosis and treatment.

“That is an old-school Electro Convulsive Therapy machine that they used in the former Brandon Mental Health Centre,” says the Brandon University alumna and newly-minted Master’s degree holder in Bioethics from McGill.

BRANDON, MB – Following an exhaustive cross-Canada search, the Brandon University (BU) Board of Governors takes great pride in announcing that Dr. Gervan Fearon begins a five year appointment as President and Vice-Chancellor, effective August 1st, 2014.

Currently the Vice-President (Academic and Provost), Dr. Fearon joined BU in 2013 as part of the senior executive team, developing and promoting academic programming and research advancement, and overseeing the University’s Faculties, Student and Registrarial Services, Library Services, and Information Technology Services.

BRANDON, MB – An internationally-recognized voice in Indigenous health and the law is joining Brandon University (BU) in a $500,000 project to advance Aboriginal Peoples’ rights to health in Canada.
Dr. Yvonne Boyer comes to BU as the Tier ll Canada Research Chair (CRC) in Aboriginal Health and Wellness.

Twenty baskets with unique themes including Redneck Christmas, 50 Shades to Get You Through the Season, It’s All About the Children and the Hey Girl Spa Package were put together by BU employees from every one of the University’s faculties and raffled this past week at the University’s annual Holiday Luncheon for staff, faculty and students.

The Sun questioned 460 students graduating this year from Brandon’s three high schools: Vincent Massey, Neelin and Crocus Plains.

BRANDON, MB – Clothed in traditional cap and gown, 558 students received their degrees during graduation exercises at Brandon University (BU) on Friday, May 31st. Capacity crowds of more than 2500 people cheered the grads, during morning and afternoon programs in BU’s Healthy Living Centre.
