A total of six valedictorians, representing top academic achievement and community commitment from Brandon University’s graduating students, will be lauded at BU’s Spring Convocation 2022 later this month.
Valedictorians have been selected from every faculty and the School of Music, with the Faculty of Education selecting two this year.

Davion Johnson is filling the role held by Cora Dupuis while Dupuis takes study leave for the 2022 calendar year to complete her PhD in Educational Studies.
A new research study at Brandon University will explore Indigenous approaches to autism in education. Dr. Patty Douglas, Associate Professor in the Faculty of Education, is the academic lead on the project, working in partnership with Leah LaPlante, Vice President of the Manitoba Métis Federation Southwest, and with Gail Cullen, Executive Director of the Brandon Friendship Centre.

Brandon University’s Senate has voted by an overwhelming majority to delay the start of Winter Term 2022 by one week, giving students and faculty additional time to prepare for a temporary move to online instruction.
Brandon University will be closed as normal for the holiday break, from Friday, Dec. 24, 2021 through to and including Monday, Jan. 3, 2022.
Next term at Brandon University will look a lot like the current term, as the university continues its strong precautions to prevent the spread of Covid-19 and keep students, faculty, and staff as safe as possible.
The Winter 2022 Term, which begins in January 2022, will continue existing restrictions and mandates that have proven effective so far, and that members of the university community are used to.

As the first National Day for Truth and Reconciliation approaches on Thursday, Brandon University (BU) is welcoming all to gather, listen and learn about Indigenous culture and the harmful history of Canada’s residential schools.
Most campus services will be closed on Thursday, but BU encourages everyone to take time for reflection on the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation and to participate in community events.
Faculty, staff and students in the Brandon University School of Music are currently piloting the University’s draft vaccine policy, which aims to have everyone on campus vaccinated by the end of October.
Users of the BU Healthy Living Centre, as well as some visitors to Food Services, also have stricter vaccination requirements to follow, under new provincial public health orders.
