Fifteen Brandon University (BU) students are spending their summer working on research projects with support from the federal Tri-Agency Undergraduate Student Research Awards (USRAs).

The bulk of the projects — 13 of them — are receiving funding from the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada (NSERC), with the Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR) and Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada (SSHRC) each supporting one USRA project at BU this summer.

Two of the world’s foremost scholars on studying masculinity are working together here in Brandon, as a visiting professor arrives from Türkiye for a two-week stay.

Through the Erasmus+ Mobility Agreement, Dr. Atilla Barutçu is visiting Brandon University to work with Dr. Jonathan A. Allan, Canada Research Chair in Men and Masculinities in BU’s Faculty of Arts.

A Brandon University researcher is in the field near Sudbury, Ontario, this summer assessing how to restore a damaged ecosystem that could be a tremendous carbon sink.

Dr. Pete Whittington is a professor and chair of the Department of Geography and Environment at BU. his research focuses on peatlands, which are a type of wetland that can store tonnes of carbon into the ground for thousands of years.

This outstanding accomplishment underscores BU Co-op’s dedication to providing unparalleled career opportunities and professional development to its students. Forty-one BU Co-op students are employed this summer in fields that match their career aspirations.

Brandon University’s Spring Convocation concluded today with ceremonies that celebrated graduates in the Faculties of Health Studies and Arts.

In the morning ceremony, more than 110 Health Studies grads received their degrees in nursing and in psychiatric nursing, followed by more than 130 Arts degrees bestowed in the afternoon ceremony.

The first day of Brandon University’s Spring Convocation celebrated graduates from the Faculties of Science and Education, as well as from the School of Music.

In today’s morning ceremony, nearly 90 Science grads and nearly 40 Music grads received their degrees, followed by nearly 190 Education degrees bestowed in the afternoon ceremony.

Three major music events are coming together at Brandon University this weekend and early next week, putting on a series of concerts and performances that promise to wow audiences.

The annual E-Gré competition this weekend will be followed by a conference of the Canadian University Music Society, or MusCan, early next week, as well as a simultaneous meeting of the Canadian Network for Musicians’ Health and Wellness (CNMHW).
