Following the publication of his co-authored book, Police Body-Worn Cameras: Media and the New Discourse of Police Reform, earlier this year, Brandon University (BU) Professor of Sociology Dr. Christopher J. Schneider has solidified his position as a leading sought-after voice on police body-worn cameras. Professor Schneider recently provided his research expertise to two major venues: a public hearing of the Boston City Council and a segment on HBO’s Emmy Award-winning program Last Week Tonight with John Oliver.

Stolen Science, hosted by Dr. Darrell Racine, reveals the hidden Indigenous knowledge behind two centuries of Western European scientific discovery

Dr. Darrell Racine, Professor of Native Studies at Brandon University and a Métis scholar from the Turtle Mountains of Southwestern Manitoba, has launched Stolen Science, a new podcast series that uncovers the largely unacknowledged contributions of Indigenous peoples to Western European science between 1670 and 1870. The series is now available on YouTube and major podcast platforms.

This year’s two winning “Destination BU” videos tell very different stories, but both capture the perseverance and hope that shape the International student experience at Brandon University.

The Destination BU challenge invites incoming International students to create short social-media videos that document their journey from home to BU. The contest highlights both the practical realities and the emotional experience of studying abroad, from farewells and long-haul travel to first impressions of Canada and campus.

Brandon University is expanding its global reach with the signing of a new Memorandum of Understanding with Juntendo University in Tokyo, Japan — marking the first formal institutional partnership in the country for BU’s Office of International Activities.

The agreement establishes a framework for collaboration between the two institutions, including opportunities for student and faculty exchange, joint research initiatives, and the sharing of academic resources and expertise.

Brandon University students had a unique opportunity to connect with one of Canada’s leading economic voices when alumna Carolyn Rogers, Senior Deputy Governor of the Bank of Canada, returned to campus late last month.

While in Brandon to speak at the Brandon Chamber of Commerce Economic Outlook Luncheon on March 26, Rogers also generously made time to meet directly with BU students in an intimate, interactive session.
