BRANDON, Man. – Volunteers are digging deep at Brandon University (BU) to grow fruits and vegetables that will help feed students and provide affordable, healthy food for members of the community.
Green Futures BU, a collaboration of students, faculty and staff, held a planting blitz this week at the university’s expanded community gardens, weeding the beds and introducing seeds and seedlings.

BRANDON, Man. – Gerald Butler and Shawn Chambers were recipients of major awards as the Brandon University Foundation recognized donors and volunteers at its Annual Luncheon on Friday, May 13 at Harvest Hall.
Butler received the Outstanding Volunteer Fundraiser Award, recognizing individuals who have demonstrated exceptional skills and leadership in coordinating and motivating others for fundraising in partnership with Brandon University (BU).

BRANDON, Man. – One of Canada’s shining stars, Brandon’s very own James Ehnes, returns to his hometown for a pro series recital next week.
This special addition to the regular season of the pro series will take place the evening of Monday, May 16, when the much-lauded violinist graces the stage of the Western Manitoba Centennial Auditorium (WMCA).

BRANDON, Man. – Noted radio host and broadcast executive Eric Friesen will be honoured at Brandon University’s Spring Convocation this month.
Eric Friesen will receive an honorary degree at Brandon University’s Spring Convocation on May 27.
Mr. Friesen will receive an honorary Doctor of Laws (honoris causa) at the afternoon ceremony on Friday, May 27.
Born and raised in Altona, Manitoba, Mr. Friesen started his career at local radio station CFAM before hosting a number of CBC Radio programs, including Studio Sparks, Onstage at Glen Gould Studio and In Performance, and serving as a network executive.
