Brandon University (BU) is proud of the strong resources devoted to students, including unparalleled access to faculty, that are on display in the 2017 Maclean’s magazine university rankings, which were released today.

When Ahmed Awid moved to Brandon in the early 1900s, he was at the vanguard of what is now a thriving Manitoba Muslim community.
Brandon University (BU) professor Dr. Alison Marshall says that Awid’s story is both an example of early Muslim immigration to Canada and also a window through which to consider the social history that made it difficult for newcomers to enter and stay in Canada through much of the 20th century.

Brandon University is pleased to welcome Curt Shoultz as Director of the Centre for Teaching, Learning and Technology, effective November 1.
“It’s an important part of the Brandon University mission to continue to improve our methods of teaching and learning, particularly through new technology, and the Centre for Teaching, Learning and Technology is a key component of that mission,” said Dr. W. Dean Care, Associate Vice-President (Teaching & Learning) and Dean of the Faculty of Health Studies. “Curt Shoultz’ background in an educational leader, his keen interest in emerging and evolving technology, and his enthusiasm for the latest research make him a natural fit for this Director position.
Thanks to a hugely successful fundraising effort led by Brandon College and Brandon University alumni, a symbolic staff that represents student leadership will soon be back in the hands of students.
“We know that so many of our alumni have very fond memories of the Senior Stick and Lady Stick, and we are thrilled that we were able to so quickly reach our fundraising goal,” said Carla Eisler, Alumni Relations Officer at BU. “Along with several of the donations came touching notes that really drove home how important this symbol has been to alumni who were here at that time.
It is back-to-school season for Brandon University (BU) alumni, as we get ready to welcome grads from years past to campus for Homecoming weekend.
“This year’s Homecoming is especially poignant for alumni who are celebrating milestones, like the Class of ’66,” says Carla Eisler, the BU Alumni Officer.

“Every year, it is humbling to read through the outstanding accomplishments of Brandon University alumni who are nominated for our awards.
As Brandon University (BU) begins planning for our next few decades of growth and development, we are inviting all members of the community to share their visions of the future of the university, including how they currently use and engage with the campus.
BU is working with consultants who specialize in this type of assessment and long-range planning to develop a Campus Master Plan for the University.

Curt Shoultz says that a large canvas and an open-ended opportunity gave him the freedom to explore his own interests in producing a series of works on display this fall at the Brandon University (BU) Tommy McLeod Curve Gallery.
Shoultz, a prominent Brandon artist, says that the challenge of working for himself on a tight deadline was freeing.
While most Brandon University (BU) students are heading to their first classes today, one group got an early start with three days of intensive orientation sessions last week.
Students in the BU Master of Psychiatric Nursing program came to the BU campus for a round of seminars, faculty research presentations and introductions before heading back home to complete their coursework.
