Brandon University’s Co-operative Education Program (BU Co-op) continues to demonstrate its impact, with 42 out of 48 participating students already having secured summer employment in 2025. These students, employed in work that’s related to their field of study, gain paid experience and build connections in industries across Manitoba and beyond.

The Brandon University Student Music Educators Association (BUSMEA), in partnership with the Westman Band Directors Association (WMBDA), instrumental music teachers, and stakeholders in the Westman region, are proud to announce the launch of a national Beginning Band Composition Competition, with a submission deadline of Nov. 1, 2025.

This landmark initiative coincides with two major milestones for BUSMEA: the organization’s 40th anniversary and the 20th annual Da Capo Conference, hosted by the Brandon University School of Music.

The Clear Lake Chamber Music Festival warmly invites music lovers to an enchanting evening of classical brilliance, featuring pianist Daniel Tselyakov, joined by guest artists Ariel Carrabré (cello) and Alexander Tselyakov (piano).

The program opens with Johannes Brahms’s Cello Sonata No. 1 in E minor, Op. 38, a lyrical masterpiece and cornerstone of the cello repertoire.

Dr. Rhonda Hinther, a professor in the Department of History at Brandon University, has been awarded a prestigious teaching award from the Canadian Historical Association (CHA). The national honour recognizes her innovative and impactful approach to engaging students with primary sources in historical studies.
