A key figure in the preservation and the revitalization of the Michif language in Canada will be presented with an honorary degree during a Brandon University (BU) Convocation ceremony this week.

Elder Norman Fleury will receive a Doctor of Literature during the Faculty of Arts Convocation ceremony, which starts at 2 p.m.

Today at the Brandon Chamber of Commerce luncheon, Manitoba Premier Wab Kinew singled out Brandon University as part of his State of the Province address, and delivered us some excellent news. The premier pledged that the province will be providing to Brandon University an additional $7.4 million in funding over two years, above and beyond the funding in Budget 2024.

The Indigenous Peoples’ Centre (IPC) team at Brandon University(BU) is planning an event to raise awareness of Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women, Girls and 2 Spirit people (MMIWG2S). In recognition of the National Day of Awareness for MMIWG2S, the IPC team will host a fire at and guest speakers at the Ceremonial Fire Pit in the Kanvanagh Courtyard, beginning at 11 a.m.

Julia Greer has all kinds of new ideas to spark her teaching career after capping her Brandon University (BU) education with a memorable experience. Greer, who will graduate with a Bachelor of Education (After Degree) this month, had the opportunity to exchange ideas with other pre-service educators at the Western Canadian Student Teacher Conference (WestCAST) in April at the University of Calgary.
