Assiniboine College and Brandon University teamed up once again with the Brandon Chamber of Commerce to host ConnectED, a conference-style event that matched more than 80 students with dozens of professionals in fields they’re interested in.

Students rotated through 30‑minute mentorship rounds, hosted by one to two industry leaders, where they could ask questions and build meaningful connections with a variety of professions and sectors. Following the afternoon sessions, students joined members of the community and fellow alumni from both institutions for a come-and-go mixer.

Pop-up shop will return March 25

Brandon University’s inaugural Confidence Closet has demonstrated the power of community partnership in supporting student confidence, access, and sustainability in career preparation.

Delivered as a collaboration between the BU Co-op Program and the Faculty of Education Field Experience Office, the pop-up shopping experience provided students with access to professional attire in a welcoming, low-barrier environment while promoting reuse and responsible consumption.

The Brandon University community is coming together to help students step confidently into upcoming interviews for Co-op opportunities, Field Experience, and early career roles. Held Tuesday morning on campus, the event highlighted how BU’s Co-op program connects students to meaningful work opportunities across Manitoba, across Canada, and around the world — and how those experiences help build stronger communities and stronger futures.

Brandon University’s Co-operative Education Program (BU Co-op) continues to demonstrate its impact, with 42 out of 48 participating students already having secured summer employment in 2025. These students, employed in work that’s related to their field of study, gain paid experience and build connections in industries across Manitoba and beyond.

Using a “speed dating” model, the half-day conference matched students with industry experts in their areas of interest, giving them dedicated facetime to ask career questions, gain insider tips and tricks, and build their personal networks.

A Brandon University expert on experiential education, professional networking, and launching youth into successful careers will take her message to Brandon’s business class at a Brandon Chamber of Commerce luncheon this month.

Cora Dupuis, Co-ordinator of BU’s Co-op Program, will deliver the keynote address at the Brandon Chamber’s February Luncheon, this Thursday, Feb. 20. It’s the first time in recent memory that a Brandon University faculty member has taken the stage as a keynote speaker at a Chamber luncheon.
