BRANDON, MB – In his first full season as a Brandon Bobcat, rookie point guard Ilarion Bonhomme made quite a name for himself in the Canada West conference. His tireless work ethic, blazing speed and infectious personality are now being rewarded, as Bonhomme has been named Canada West Rookie of the Year.

BRANDON, MB – For the second season in a row Jonathan Sloane has been named a Canada West second team all-star. The Winchester, Ontario product just completed his fifth and final year of eligibility as a Brandon Bobcat and now has one more achievement to add to his resume.

BRANDON, MB – The Brandon University Bobcats women’s volleyball team has added another recruit for next year. Russell, Manitoba product Jasmine Lafournaise has committed to play for the Bobcats starting in the fall of 2012.

BRANDON, MB – A trio of Brandon high school stand-outs have committed to play for the Brandon University Bobcats women’s volleyball team beginning next season.
Crocus Plains products Jodie Baker and Mary Thomson as well as soon to be Vincent Massey grad Gillian Leech have verbally committed and now signed official letters of intent to join the BU Athletics program.

BRANDON, MB — The trials and tribulations of a young woman, nicknamed “Miss Witherspoon” in the afterlife, will be explored this week on the Evans Theatre stage, with opening night slated for Thursday evening. “Miss Witherspoon” was written by Christopher Durang, an award-winning playwright whose work has been produced on- and off-Broadway, in regional theaters throughout North America, and internationally.

BRANDON, MB — World-acclaimed Icelandic composer Kjartan Ólafsson has been on the Brandon University (BU) campus this week for the 2012 New Music Festival (BUNMF), entitled “Music Gates of the Arctic”. He will be in attendance to hear the world premiere of two of his recent works in the Lorne Watson Recital this weekend.

BRANDON, MB — Laura Brandon, a 4th-year student at Brandon University has won the Society for American Archaeology’s Native American Undergraduate Scholarship in Archaeology. She is majoring in two disciplines — Anthropology with a specialization in Archeology and Native Studies.
