On behalf of the Board of Governors and the Presidential Search Committee, I am honoured to announce the appointment of Dr. Christine Cnossen as the next President and Vice-Chancellor of Brandon University.

A grant received by a counselling therapist at Brandon University will let her offer a new program for neurodiverse students at BU.

Marsha Harris applied for and received a grant from the Suicide Prevention Implementation Network (SPIN) to cover the costs of offering a Mindful Self-Compassion group.

She says that Mindful Self-Compassion programs can support neurodiverse students in fostering self-acceptance, promoting resilience, promoting new coping skills to manage emotional responses, and reducing internalized stigma.

Candice Waddell-Henowitch was in Quebec City for meetings when she was shocked to hear her name being called to the stage.

An associate professor in BU’s Department of Psychiatric Nursing, Dr. Waddell-Henowitch was in Quebec to attend the national members meeting of the YWCA; she’s outgoing president of YWCA Westman, a role she held for three years, and is now a member of the YWCA Canada board.

Two Brandon University psychiatric nursing students tasked with making a community health promotional video say they got as much out of the assignment as any viewer will.

“This project has changed the way I think about psychiatric nursing in many ways,” said third-year student Kim Harrison, adding that she hadn’t realized how little the general public understood about psychiatric nursing before starting a project to better explain it.

“I also realized that when working on a community project like this, there is no official end,” she said.
