Brandon University is pleased to announce that it has received $557,284.00 in funding from the Government of Canada’s Research Support Fund (RSF). This investment reinforces the University’s commitment to providing a robust and supportive research environment for faculty and graduate students.
The Research Support Fund (RSF) is a vital federal initiative, administered jointly by the Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR), Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council (NSERC), and the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council (SSHRC). The RSF assists Canadian post-secondary institutions by offsetting the indirect or “hidden” costs of federally funded research, such as:
- Maintaining and upgrading research facilities and infrastructure;
- Utilities and IT services critical to research operations;
- Library resources and access to knowledge databases;
- Regulatory compliance, ethics and safety oversight;
- Research management and administrative services;
- Intellectual property management and knowledge mobilization efforts.
At Brandon University, the RSF funding will significantly support the operations of the Office of the Vice-President (Research & Graduate Studies), particularly by funding the majority of salaries for the staff who manage the institution’s research administration.
“This RSF award is absolutely crucial to supporting our researchers,” said Dr. Bernadette Ardelli, Vice-President (Research & Graduate Studies). “By covering essential indirect costs and sustaining our dedicated research services team, the RSF enables faculty and students to remain laser-focused on innovation and scholarship.”
“We are thrilled to see the RSF grant strengthen our capacity to support researchers,” added Kerry Murkin, Manager of Research Services. “These funds help ensure that we can continue providing seamless grant administration, compliance guidance, and proactive research initiatives.”
