Bargaining update — No labour disruption Monday

Tonight, Brandon University and the BU Faculty Association made major inroads towards a new collective agreement. The Parties will continue negotiations through the days ahead, and there will be no labour disruption to our campus community and to the great work that our students, faculty, and staff do on a daily basis.

Our thanks go to the members of both bargaining teams, who worked late into many evenings and through weekends to bridge major gaps towards a deal that is fair for all. All key issues have been, or are well on the way to being, resolved at the table. Talks will resume this week and we expect to wrap up final negotiations in the near future.

Normally, we would say that we look forward to welcoming everyone to our campuses on Monday morning. Unfortunately, Mother Nature may have other plans. As significant snowfall continues this evening, we are unsure whether our campuses will be able to open tomorrow. Roads and sidewalks may be difficult to travel on, or even unsafe, and highways may still be closed.

We will notify you about any weather-related closure as early as possible tomorrow morning. Please watch your BU email, the BU website, and BU social media for updates.

For now, our thanks again to the hard work by the BU and BUFA bargaining teams.
