BRANDON – Students will get a global view of an event they are all experiencing in a Medical Anthropology course returning to Brandon University (BU) in January 2021.
Anthropology of Global Public Health (BU course No. 12:456) has been re-introduced because of its relevance to the COVID-19 pandemic and added to BU’s Winter Term schedule.

A research paper by Brandon University (BU) professor Dr. Christopher J. Schneider has been recognized with an international award from one of the world’s largest academic publishers.

Schneider was the recipient of a 2020 Emerald Literati Outstanding Author Contribution Award announced in November, recognizing his contribution to updating sociological frameworks for the 21st century.
Following two successful terms under Chancellor Michael Decter, Brandon University is looking for the next person to step into the role as titular head of the University.
“Michael Decter has exemplified the very best of Chancellorship, and on behalf of the entire Brandon University community, I extend to him my deepest thanks for his service to our institution,” said BU President David Docherty.

Although a traditional in-person vigil is impossible this year, Brandon University and the BU Status of Women Review Committee is again partnering with the YWCA and the Women’s Resource Centre on ways for people to honour the Dec. 6 National Day of Remembrance and Action on Violence Against Women.
Every Dec. 6, the country pauses to remember the 14 women who lost their lives in a mass shooting at l’École Polytechnique de Montréal in 1989.

Brandon University has extended the deadline for Voluntary Withdrawal from the current Fall 2020 term to Wednesday, Nov. 25.
The two-day extension reflects ongoing and intermittent network outages that have affected students’ ability to submit their withdrawal.
If you determine it is best not to continue in a course at this time, you must officially withdraw by the deadline in order to avoid academic penalty.
Brandon University will extend Pass or No Credit grading options to students in the current Fall 2020 and coming Winter 2021 terms. These grade options were also previously extended to students last year, who were affected by the sudden onset of the Covid-19 pandemic.
A Brandon University Fine Arts student has earned two prestigious awards this month. Eleni Kilbride was presented with a Recognize Scholarship from the Manitoba Arts Council, and was named winner of the C.D.
E-Gré National Music Competition winner Brittany Rae and accompanist Jesse Plessis will conclude their Winner’s Tour with a live-streamed performance on Tuesday, Nov. 17.
