Brandon University and the BU Students’ Union marks an important anniversary this year as the Citizen Science building turns 100 years old.

Speeches and refreshments held recently in the Mingling Area helped honour the building’s birthday, with student artwork and historic photos on display.

Constructed between 1922–1923, the Citizen Science building was the third building erected on what was then the Brandon College campus, following the Original Building (1901) and the attached Clark Hall (1906).

Brandon University (BU) faculty members are receiving significant funding for their international projects from the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada (SSHRC).
Dr. Allison McCulloch of BU’s Department of Political Science will receive $337,185 over three years as a principal investigator on an SSHRC Open Research Area award.

Two Westman teachers – including one who is also a Master of Education student at Brandon University — have won a prestigious national history award for a project that connected their rural students to their community through history and writing while allowing them to leave a legacy of their own. One of their students has also since entered the integrated Arts and Education program at BU.
Hartney School teachers Tracey Salamondra and Carla Cooke have won a 2022 Governor General’s History Award for Excellence in Teaching.
Salamondra is currently pursuing a Master of Education degree at BU, in the Curriculum and Pedagogy Thesis stream.

Brandon University’s (BU’s) international students drew thousands of views from around the world with the latest stories of their journeys to Canada.
The latest Destination:BU video challenge has concluded with six international students from Africa, Asia, the Caribbean and Central America sharing short social-media style videos of their trips to Brandon.
