Brandon, MB — Lori Gohl was one of the more than 500 Brandon University (BU) students to cross the stage at the Western Manitoba Centennial Auditorium in early June.
Like many others, this graduate from Souris was closing one chapter of her life, while another was just on the horizon.

BRANDON, MB — The sixth annual Clear Lake Chamber Music Festival (CLCMF), under the artistic direction of concert pianist, Alexander Tselyakov, will run from Tuesday, August 23 to Sunday, August 28. This seven-concert Festival is an important part of Canada’s summer cultural calendar and in previous years, has entertained people of all ages.
 
Headlining the roster of top-notch guest artists is James Ehnes, whose international reputation precedes him and who makes his first appearance at the Clear Lake Chamber Music Festival.

Brandon, MB — For a second year, a six-concert series will showcase the talents of alumni — professional musicians who trained at Brandon University and now return to their alma mater to share their talents. Beginning this evening, the concert programmes will present a range of works, from the classical period to newly composed jazz pieces.

Brandon, MB – Brandon University has seen a flurry of activity with Mini University now into its second week of summer camp. The camp, which runs from July 4 to August 19 in one-week blocks, is still accepting registrations.

BRANDON, MB – Dr. Tyler Foster, Associate Professor (Chair) of the Physics and Astronomy department, received the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada (NSERC) PromoScience Grant, totaling $16,791 for the astronomy outreach program at Brandon University’s Astronomical Observatory.
The PromoScience grant received will continue to help support the facility’s community astronomer position over a three year span.

Brandon, MB — Dr. Charles Conteh, a Brock University Assistant Professor who specializes in Public Policy and related issues, will give a lecture entitled “Managing Canada’s Rural Regions in a Knowledge-Based Economy: The Cases of New Brunswick and Manitoba.”
Hosted by the Rural Development Institute at Brandon University, Dr. Conteh will present his findings about rural economic development policy governance in Canada in the context of a globally integrated economy and the attendant structural shifts in industrialized economies.

Brandon, MB — Originally scheduled for mid-September, the third biennial Ogamas Brandon University Aboriginal Literary Festival will now take place from November 24 to 26, 2011. As in previous editions, the Festival will be held on campus.

BRANDON, MB – The appointment of Dr. Sal Badali as the Dean of Education was approved by the Brandon University Board of Governors in February.
“I am very much looking forward to joining Brandon University as Dean of Education,” said Dr. Badali, who was most recently the Associate Dean of Faculty Development and Human Resources in the Faculty of Education at the University of Regina.
