Tom Brophy, Brandon University’s Associate Vice-President (Student Services and Enrolment Management) and University Registrar, will join Saint Mary’s University in September.
After three years leading Brandon University’s (BU’s) Student Services, Tom Brophy will start in a new position at Saint Mary’s University (SMU) in the upcoming academic year.

Brandon University (BU) reaffirmed its strong commitment to Aboriginal and Indigenous culture and heritage by participating in the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between the Brandon Urban Aboriginal Peoples’ Council and the City of Brandon.
BU is a founding partner of the BUAPC and was represented at the signing by BU President Gervan Fearon.

BU sociology professor Christopher Schneider has a new book on the phenomenon, “Policing and Social Media,” which includes examples from the 2011 Vancouver Stanley Cup riot, the Toronto Police Service’s innovative social media strategy, and the YouTube video that brought worldwide attention to the fatal shooting of Sammy Yatim by Toronto police officer James Forcillo.

BRANDON, Man. – Cutting-edge research at Brandon University (BU) has received a huge boost, with the announcement of five new Discovery Grants, worth a total of $660,000 over five years, awarded to members of the Faculty of Science.
The grants, awarded by the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada (NSERC), bring the number of Discovery Grant projects led by BU researchers to 9. In each of the previous four years, one member of the Faculty of Science has been awarded a Discovery Grant.

In a brief ceremony this morning at the Healthy Living Centre (HLC), representatives from Special Olympics Manitoba and Brandon University (BU) officially launched a one-year countdown to the 2017 Special Olympics Manitoba Provincial Summer Games, which will be held in Brandon next June.
“Special Olympics Manitoba is very excited to host our 2017 Provincial Summer Games in Brandon,” said Jenn Campbell, Special Olympics Manitoba incoming President and CEO. “We know that Brandon will be a fantastic host for our athletes from across the province!
