New coordinator Barry Nadolny says the availability of first-year BU courses in Dauphin is a great opportunity for Parkland residents.

DAUPHIN, Man. – Barry Nadolny says that this fall brings an incredible opportunity for Parkland-area students who want to start their Brandon University (BU) education.

For the first time, BU will offer a full-time schedule of first-year university courses in Dauphin, so that students will be able to begin their university Arts or Science degree without making the move to Brandon.

Nadolny, who has just been hired as BU’s new Dauphin coordinator to oversee student recruitment and course delivery, says he expects high demand.

“With a great selection of courses that are affordable and convenient, this is the best time for a student in the Parkland to start their studies at BU,” he said.

“You can start your first year of university without needing to also find a new place to live or possibly a new job. And we know that having a support structure of nearby family and friends can help students succeed.”

The courses that BU will offer in Dauphin include popular and broad-based introductory courses that are a foundation for any one of BU’s dozens of Arts or Science degrees. Students in Dauphin will learn from on-site instructors with a full-time, regular class schedule, giving them access to much of the academic support that is available at the main Brandon campus.

“The content of the courses will be exactly the same in Dauphin as it is in Brandon,” said Steve Robinson, BU’s Vice-President (Academic & Provost), who is overseeing the inaugural program. “With the high quality of first-year Brandon University education now offered in Dauphin, it will be easier and more convenient than ever for students to access their choice of post-secondary education. This is great news for Dauphin, for the Parkland and for Manitoba.”

Courses start this September, 2016, and will run in two terms through April 2017. More information is available at brandonu.ca/dauphin or interested students can contact coordinator Barry Nadolny directly by calling 204.622.2222 ext. 6583 or emailing NadolnyB@BrandonU.ca.
