Brandon will celebrate National Indigenous Peoples Day on Wednesday, and a ceremonial fire and Teachings House will be held to honour the day on the Brandon University campus.
“National Indigenous Peoples Day has become a highlight on campus, as we celebrate the culture and contributions of all Indigenous peoples,” said BU President David Docherty, who noted that more than 15 per cent of BU students self-declare as Indigenous.
The John E. Robbins Library at Brandon University is elevating its support of our community with a new display that brings banned books front and centre.
The library display was put together in partnership with the BU Queer committee and other faculty partners and is part of a sustained response to intellectual freedom challenges in Brandon, Manitoba, Canada, and beyond.

The Brandon University campus is buzzing again, as honeybee hives have returned for the second year of a pilot project dubbed ‘Bee U’ that demonstrates urban beekeeping in Brandon.
This year’s hives are in a better spot for public viewing and are located on the roof of the Knowles-Douglas Student Union Centre, just outside a bank of plate glass windows that will allow bee-curious people a safe and up-close place to watch the hive activity as well as regular beekeeping duties.

After a three-year hiatus, the Brandon University (BU) Chorale is embarking on another international tour. Previous versions of the choir have visited and sang in five other countries, including Brazil, France, Cuba, Estonia, and Latvia and the ensemble will make stops this week in Southern Manitoba and North Dakota, from April 26–29.

A rising star in the music world, Luis Ramirez is returning to Brandon this Friday to present ten original tango pieces, called his ‘Immigration Suite’.
