BRANDON, MB – After 46 years and thousands of basketball games, the final Bobcat basketball games will be played in the original Brandon University Gymnasium this weekend. The Bobcats will host the Lethbridge Pronghorns in the ‘Cats final home games of the 2011-2012 Canada West season, as BU prepares to open the brand new Healthy Living Centre in the fall of 2012.

BRANDON, MB — During a ceremony earlier this week, Mayor Sam Katz presented a City of Winnipeg Community Service Award to Dr. Alison Marshall, Professor of Religion and Adjunct Professor of Women’s and Gender Studies at Brandon University. Her leadership in community service was one of the reasons for this prestigious civic award.

BRANDON, MB – Members of the Brandon University men’s basketball team will make visits to a pair of local elementary schools over the next few weeks, starting with a presentation to students at J.R. Reid School, the afternoon of Thursday, January 19.
“We are hoping the students pick up our message of academics, hard-work, and living a healthy active lifestyle,” says men’s basketball Head Coach Gil Cheung.

BRANDON, MB – The Brandon Bobcats will participate in the CIS Women’s Basketball Coaches Association “Shoot for the Cure”, a fundraising initiative in which all 43 CIS women’s basketball teams are involved. The program is aimed at raising money and awareness for the fight against breast cancer.

BRANDON, MB — Today in Thompson, the President and Vice-Chancellor of Brandon University, Dr. Deborah C. Poff met Lovro Paulic, the General Manager of Vale’s Manitoba Operations to accept the company’s donation of $400,000 in support of the Vital Outcomes Indicators for Community Engagement for Children and Youth (VOICE) project. Brandon University is supported in this project through a $1 million-dollar peer-reviewed research grant from the Government of Canada, through the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada, Community-University Research Alliances Program (SSHRC CURA).
