Brandon, MB — On May 12, 2012 SIFE Brandon and James B Chrisp UCT Council #448 will be hosting a spring clean-up event within the City of Brandon from 9:30 a.m. until 1:30 pm. The city has been divided into eleven sections, where various student and non-profit organizations will be put into teams to help clean up the streets of Brandon.

BRANDON, MB – Brandon University Bobcats men’s basketball coach Gil Cheung has started to reload after graduating two key players from this past season. The Bobcats lose fifth year starters Kyle Vince and Donovan Gayle, so Cheung has signed his first two recruits of the 2012-2013 season, both of which play a similar style to the pair they are replacing.

Brandon, MB — On May 6, 2012, members of SIFE Brandon will travel to Calgary, Alberta to compete in the annual Ace Nationals Exposition. The event will be held at the Calgary TELUS Convention Centre from May 7 to 9, where teams from across Canada present the results of their projects throughout the academic year.

BRANDON, MB — Next Saturday evening, three members of Brandon University’s jazz faculty—saxophonist Greg Gatien, bassist Gilles Fournier and drummer Eric Platz—will collaborate in an unprecedented concert event. Six other musicians from Winnipeg and Saskatoon will be joining them to revive the music that launched a whole new approach to jazz.
BRANDON, MB — Dr. Renee Robinson of the School of Health Studies and Dr. Karen Rempel of the Faculty of Education were each awarded funding from Human Resources and Skills Development Canada (HRSDC)’s Homelessness Partnering Strategy. The total value of the research funding for these two Brandon University projects is more than $103,000.

BRANDON, MB — While celebrating the accomplishments of 675 new graduates, Brandon University will underscore its 101st Convocation with the bestowment of two honorary doctorates. In recognition of her work in the field of psychiatric nursing, Annette Thorimbert Osted has been selected as one of the recipients.
I am pleased to announce that Karen Doty-Sweetnam is the 2012 recipient of the Award for Excellence in Psychiatric Nursing Education from the College of Registered Psychiatric Nurses of Manitoba (CRPNM). Karen will receive this award at the CRPNM Awards Luncheon to be held May 11, 2012 at the Victoria Inn in Brandon, following the CRPNM Annual General Meeting.
