BRANDON, Man. – The President of Brandon University (BU) thanked the local business community today for their support and for rallying behind the BU Bobcats as they prepare to host the city’s first-ever Canadian Interuniversity Sport (CIS) championship.
University President Gervan Fearon spoke to the Brandon Chamber of Commerce on Thursday, the day before the CIS Women’s Volleyball Championship begins at BU’s Healthy Living Centre (HLC).

Members of BU’s faculty and staff were asked to nominate students who have excelled in their studies and provided meaningful contributions to the community.

BRANDON, Man. — One of the highlights of past pro series—the faculty concert—returns on Tuesday with an unparalleled programme for music lovers in Brandon. Highlighting the proficiency of several of the talented musicians in the Brandon University School of Music, the line-up is made up of compositions ranging from the early 20th century to newly composed works.

Two renowned advocates for human rights will be at Brandon University (BU) for a community talk on Tuesday, March 8, 2016, to mark International Women’s Day.
Dr. Sima Samar and Professor Marilou McPhedran will speak at BU’s John E. Robbins Library to give a presentation discussing “Canadian and International Gender Equality.” The talk is the result of a partnership between BU, the Shilo Military Family Resource Centre and Canadian Forces Base Shilo.

BRANDON, Man. – Brandon University (BU) students with school-aged children will be able to combine family time with their education this week.
The Brandon University Students’ Union (BUSU) will host Family Fun Friday, setting up events on the BU campus for students whose children have the day off due to professional development for elementary and high school teachers.

BRANDON, Man. – The John R. Brodie Science Centre will be hopping with students from Grades 1 to 12 on March 20 as Brandon University (BU) welcomes the Canada Math Kangaroo Contest to the city for the first time.
Part of an international competition, the contest will be staged at 39 locations across Canada with Brandon becoming the first Manitoba community outside of Winnipeg to host an event.

Brandon University Theatre is proud to present something completely different for its major production this year: Intersextions is not just one play, but nine separate scripts varying from seven to 18 minutes in length.  All nine are by award-winning playwrights, including John Patrick Shanley, the screenwriter of Doubt and Moonstruck, Jane Martin, Jacquelyn Reingold, and Nicholas Pappas.

BRANDON, Man. – It was a whole new ball game for Brandon University (BU) students in the Introduction to Adapted Physical Activity (APA) on Thursday as they welcomed representatives from the Manitoba Wheelchair Sport Association (MWSA).
Students in the APA class, part of the Physical Education program, learn about delivering programs for persons with a disability.

Brandon University is wooing new students this week with a pitch from the top. Deans from the five faculties at BU have been making personal phone calls to high school students from across Manitoba and Saskatchewan to tell them about their programs and answer their questions.
“Even in a texting and social media age, a personal phone call is still the best way to reach out and connect,” said Student Success officer Courtney Adams, who is helping coordinate the two-night phone drive.
