A Member’s Statement given by Brandon East MLA Glen Simard noted that October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month and described Dr. Majumder’s research, which focused on finding a blood test for early detection of breast cancer.

Dr. Majumder, who joined Brandon University in 2016, is a Canada Research Chair Tier II in Genotoxicology.

“This was an unforgettable day for us, I have never felt so honoured and respected,” she said. “Each MLA we met, from both government and opposition parties, greeted us with great respect and warmth.”

She noted that many of the provincial MLAs were proud graduates of Brandon University.

“Each MLA thanked me personally, treating me like a celebrity, and had done some research on the topic we were discussing, so the discussions were very productive.”
