Student Services and the Brandon University (BU) Status of Women’s Review Committee (SWRC) honoured 10 outstanding students at a ceremony on Tuesday at the John E. Robbins Library. Nearly 50 attendees enjoyed the ceremony, hosted by Katie Whelpton, Dean of Students.
The annual event is held to mark International Women’s Day, which is approaching on Saturday March 8, with this year’s theme being Accelerate Action. The BU students were nominated by faculty members who recognize their current success and future potential
“It’s always a joy to gather with our remarkable students to recognize their accomplishments in front of their family, friends and colleagues,” said Dr. Gretta Sayers, Co-chair of SWRC. “Each year our faculty brings forward an incredible group of women who add to the vitality of our university and our community with their intelligence and their dedication. These women are great leaders who help to inspire new generations of women to pursue their dreams.”
This year’s honourees are:
Ariadna Ortega | Avery Burgar |
Geneviève Pearce | Jade Smith |
Jelaine van der Meulen | Kaylee Carlson |
