An animated short film featuring the music of a Brandon University (BU) graduate is hitting all the right notes with the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences.
Julian Beutel was the composer and musical director for filmmaker Seth Boyden’s An Object at Rest, one of 10 entries shortlisted for the Academy Award in the category of Best Animated Short Film.

Long-serving employees and those departing BU were honoured at a special afternoon in December.
In total, more than 20 retirees with more than 500 years of combined service were honoured at the afternoon event, as well as dozens of people recognized for achieving milestones of 10 years or longer.

BRANDON, Man. ­­– Louis Visentin has been granted the title of president emeritus by the Brandon University (BU) Board of Governors.
The title is conferred by the board of governors upon a president and vice-chancellor who has served the university with distinction while in office.

Brandon University (BU) is joining with Manitoba’s other post-secondary education institutions to improve accessibility.
In response to new standards for customer service set recently under the Accessibility for Manitobans Act (AMA), BU has formed a committee with Assiniboine Community College, Canadian Mennonite University, the Manitoba Institute of Trades and Technology, Red River College, St. Boniface University, University College of the North, the University of Manitoba and the University of Winnipeg to discuss how to best meet the requirements.

An academic leader at Brandon University is taking the next step in his career.
Dr. Andrew Egan, BU’s Dean of Science, will leave his position in February to assume the role of Chancellor and Chief Academic Officer at Penn State Greater Allegheny in McKeesport, Pa. Egan is a graduate of Penn State, having earned a PhD in Forest Resources (1993).

More than 100 people attended this year’s President’s Circle Holiday Reception on Thursday evening, an excellent turnout for the annual event.
