Brandon, MB — The 2011-2012 pro series continues with a concert featuring pianist Alexander Tselyakov and some of his musical friends. A faculty member of the Brandon University School of Music, Alexander has won the admiration of music lovers around the globe.

The programme will feature three works. The Concerto in C Minor, BWV1062 for two pianos and strings by J.S. Bach will see the pianist collaborate with violinists Natalia Zielinski and Victoria Grynenko, violist Katherine Bonness, ‘cellist Minna Rose Chung, bassist Crystal Tait as well as his son, pianist Daniel Tselyakov. Daniel, a third-year student at the School of Music, has already performed on national and international stages.

Joining Alexander and the string quintet in Milhaud’s Scaramouche Suite for piano, strings and percussion will be fellow faculty member and percussionist/drummer Eric Platz as well as one of Eric’s senior students, Cody Iwasiuk. To close the performance will be Chopin’s arrangement for piano and string quartet of the composer’s own Piano Concerto No.2 in F Minor, op.21, with Alexander in the spotlight.

The Alexander Tselyakov and Friends concert will take place Sunday, December 4 at 3 p.m., in the Lorne Watson Recital Hall. Admission at the door is $25 for adults and $20 for seniors and students. Seating is limited.

This pro series performance will bring the 2011 portion of the season to an end. The next pro series concert — on Sunday, January 22, 2012 — will feature TORQ, a Toronto-based percussion ensemble. Tickets for that event will be $15 for adults, $10 for students, seniors and alumni, and $8 for Conservatory students. Tickets for all pro series offerings can be purchased in advance in the main office of the School of Music or at the door.

The pro series and the School of Music gratefully acknowledge the generous support of The Canada Council for the Arts, the Manitoba Arts Council and of the Province of Manitoba, through a Consolidated Arts Programming Grant from Culture, Heritage and Tourism.
