BRANDON – While Mini University has wrapped up for the season and the fall academic semester is in full swing, planning is already underway for next summer’s child- and youth-friendly Mini-U learning camps.
Federal funding from Actua, through the CanCode program, will provide $80,000 in new student and teacher training over the next two years, with a focus on digital and STEM (science, technology, engineering and math) education.

A young doctor who returned to Brandon for her practice, a businessman with a lengthy career in recycling, and a health-care professional who turned to academia and service will all be recognized as outstanding Brandon University and Brandon College alumni.
Jillian DeCosse will receive the Distinguished Young Alumni Award, Cam Davreux will receive the Distinguished Alumni Award for Career Achievement, and Deb Carnegie will receive the Award for Exceptional Service.

The Brandon University is saddened by the recent passing of Mitch Podolak, and offers condolences to his family and friends, and to all those who have been touched by his incomparable contributions to Canada’s music scene.
Podolak received an honorary doctorate from Brandon University in 2015, recognizing his service and leadership to Canada’s renowned folk festival culture.
