Brandon, MB — A one-day conference for the Manitoba Prior Learning Assessment Network (MPLAN) will be held at Brandon University on September 29. The keynote address will be given by Lori Fontaine from the Office of the Manitoba Fairness Commissioner.
Several workshops will be offered.

CFI, IEM and Others Fund BU Biology Research Project
 
Brandon, MB — Dr. Peter Rombough and Dr. Janet Koprivnikar of the Brandon University Biology Department have officially received the news that their collective project, entitled “High Performance Swimming Respirometer” will receive a total of $75,678 in funding. The Canada Foundation for Innovation (CFI), through its Leaders Opportunity Fund, and Manitoba Innovation Energy and Mines (IEM), through the Manitoba Research and Innovation Fund (MRIF), have each contributed $30,271, while the remaining amount will be covered by external suppliers and Brandon University.

Brandon, MB — Two Brandon University students, Samantha Durnin and Jennifer Banks, are studying at partner institutions as both have taken advantage of the National Student Exchange (NSE) program for undergraduates. This is Brandon University’s first year as a member of NSE. Both young women will be out of the country for at least one semester — Durnin is in Germany at the Universität Regensburg, while Banks is at Indiana University-Purdue University in Indianapolis.

At Brandon University (BU), this tradition will be reprised the weekend of October 14, 15 and 16, with most of the planned activities on campus.

BRANDON, MB – Four years after landing his first Australian player, Bobcats men’s volleyball coach Russ Paddock has gone back to the South Pacific for his latest recruit. Christchurch, New Zealand native Ben Glue has committed to the Brandon Bobcats for the 2011 -2012 season.

BRANDON, MB – Two more recruits have arrived in Brandon to start the 2011-2012 season with the Brandon Bobcats men’s basketball team. Emerick Ravier of Ottawa and Eric Shippers of Kingston, Washington are set to contribute to this year’s squad.

The Program for the Education of Native Teachers, PENT, is an important contributor to Brandon University and the Faculty of Education. This unique program allows First Nations and Métis teaching assistants to come to Brandon University to earn their Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Education degrees during April through July for six spring/summers.

BRANDON, MB – The last four years have been quite a ride for Paul Sanderson. After a 15,000 kilometre journey from Melbourne, Australia to Brandon, Manitoba, Sanderson has accomplished what no other athlete in BU history has.
Now Sanderson is looking forward to making the jump to the pro ranks after signing a contract that will see him land in Switzerland this fall.

Brandon, MB — Mark Williams was one of the more than 500 Brandon University (BU) students to cross the stage at the Western Manitoba Centennial Auditorium in early June.

Like many others, this graduate from Neepawa was closing one chapter of his life, while another was just on the horizon.
