A grant received by a counselling therapist at Brandon University will let her offer a new program for neurodiverse students at BU.
Marsha Harris applied for and received a grant from the Suicide Prevention Implementation Network (SPIN) to cover the costs of offering a Mindful Self-Compassion group.
She says that Mindful Self-Compassion programs can support neurodiverse students in fostering self-acceptance, promoting resilience, promoting new coping skills to manage emotional responses, and reducing internalized stigma.
Brandon University Counselling Therapist Marsha partnered with Cree Métis Grandmother Deborah Tacan and Master of Marriage and Family Therapy student Amanda-Rose Bourget to co-facilitate a horticultural therapy group during the past term.
