Brandon University President and Vice-Chancellor Dr. Christine Bovis-Cnossen shares her vision for the future of research at BU, one that champions collaboration, interdisciplinarity, and community engagement.
In the video above, Dr. Bovis-Cnossen highlights the vital role that research plays not only within the university, but also across Brandon, Manitoba, Canada, and beyond. She calls for balanced investment across all disciplines, from STEM to the arts, humanities, and social sciences, and underscores the importance of aligning BU’s research with its strengths and strategic priorities.
Looking ahead, Dr. Bovis-Cnossen envisions opportunities such as hosting an Industrial Research Chair, expanding partnerships, and ensuring every BU student engages in high-impact learning experiences that connect research, innovation, and creative practice.
At the heart of her message is a commitment to “do with, not do to”, a philosophy rooted in community-engaged research that builds meaningful relationships and advances knowledge for the betterment of society.
