It’s now quicker and easier for students to apply for scholarships and bursaries with this week’s launch of Brandon University’s (BU’s) new financial awards management system.
The new streamlined process allows students to be considered for most financial awards offered by BU with a single application as well as to review and accept award offers.
“Students have a lot on their plates, and taking away the need to scroll through long lists of scholarships and bursaries to try to find ones they are eligible to apply for is one way we can give them a better BU experience” said University Registrar Andrea McDaniel. “In the past some awards may have gone unclaimed because students didn’t know about them or didn’t apply. This will help us ensure that more financial support reaches our students and reduces the cost of their education.”
The new system, Blackbaud Award Management, integrates with software already used by the Office of Advancement and Alumni Affairs, which administers the fundraising programs that support many financial awards for students. This will allow students to submit donor thank-you letters more efficiently through the portal.
The application portal is available to students at BrandonU.academicworks.ca/users/sign_in. A simple guide with tips on submitting their applications can be found at BrandonU.ca/scholarships/apply.
In addition to the awards available through the applications system, new students coming to BU from a Canadian high school may be automatically considered for scholarships based on their high school grades. Brandon University is currently accepting applications for September 2025. More information is available at BrandonU.ca/future-students.
