Brandon University has announced a pair of leadership updates for the coming year.
The BU Board of Governors recently approved the extension of Dr. Linda Ross’ term as Acting Dean of the Faculty of Health Studies through to June 2025. And the Board has also approved the appointment of Dr. Christophe LeMoine as Acting Dean of Science for the next year, while current Dean Dr. Bernadette Ardelli is on administrative leave.
Brandon University’s Provost and Vice-President (Academic) Dr. Kofi Campbell announced the appointments today.
Dr. Ross has been Acting Dean of Health Studies since May of 2020, at the very start of the pandemic, and she has ably guided that Faculty through some very challenging times.
“I consulted comprehensively with faculty members and staff, both in person and through the opportunity for them to submit written feedback, and heard that Dr. Ross provides consistent, compassionate, and firm leadership,” wrote Dr. Campbell. “They agreed in overwhelming numbers that her appointment be extended.”
Dr. Ross will continue to serve as Acting Dean of Health Studies through June 2025.
Dr. LeMoine has served as Chair of the Department of Biology for several years, in which time he has capably handled a number of situations that required sound judgment, patience, and knowledge of the policies and regulations which guide work at BU. He has also served as Chair of the Animal Care Committee.
“After consulting with the Faculty of Science, discussing the role’s requirements with Dr. Ardelli, and soliciting expressions of interest, Dr. LeMoine was my recommendation to the Board,” Dr. Campbell wrote. “His history of research, teaching, and service make him an excellent choice to lead faculty and staff in the Faculty of Science while Dr. Ardelli takes a one-year administrative leave following the completion of her first term as Dean of Science.”
Dr. LeMoine will assume the role of Acting Dean of Science on Jan. 1, 2023 for a period of one year.
“Please join me in offering congratulations to Drs. Ross and LeMoine in their roles as Acting Dean,” Dr. Campbell wrote, “and best wishes to Dr. Ardelli on her well-earned administrative leave.”
