BRANDON, MB – Two outstanding community builders were among those honoured during the Brandon University Foundation Annual Luncheon, which recognizes the many who have helped advance higher education at Brandon University over the past year. Dr. Bill Myers was named Outstanding Volunteer Fundraiser and Pat Britton received the BU Honourary Trustee Apex Award.
Britton received her Bachelor of Arts from BU in 1987 and has worked in the private sector, nonprofit sector and government for more than four decades, including nearly 20 years at BU. She has extensive experience in program development, management and partnership building. Britton has been a member of the board of the BU Foundation since 2006 (President 2009-2011), campaign volunteer, and integral in establishing the first Winnipeg BU Alumni Chapter.
Dr. Bill Myers started his medical career at Brandon College with two years of Pre-Med. Always involved in our local community, he has been a fundraiser for the YMCA and Brandon Regional Health Centre, and with wife Lana, gives generously to Brandon University through his Medical Corporation and as members of the President’s Circle. Dr. Myers has served as a member of the Board of Directors of the Brandon University Foundation since 2011, and is actively involved with the BUILD fundraising campaign.
BU President and Vice-Chancellor Deborah Poff says, “Both Pat and Bill are outstanding individuals with long records of service to our University, advanced education, and their communities. We are fortunate to have them as friends and supporters.”
More than 125 new and existing ‘Order of the Sheaf’ members attended the annual luncheon on Friday, May 23, and were recognized for their contributions to Brandon University.
