BRANDON, MB – The future for the Bobcat women’s volleyball team is looking up – literally.
The Bobcats are pleased to announce the signing of 6’2” Meaghan Robertson. Bobcats head coach Lee Carter is glad to have Robertson joining a long history of local talent staying to play at home at BU. She is preceded by other Crocus Plains standouts playing for the Bobcats such as Ashley Creighton, Teagan Hunter, Kellie Baker, and Lindsay McLaughlin.
“I have been watching Meaghan develop as a player from the time she was in the under-13 program,” says Carter. “She was coached by Erin Visch-Krahn back then, and now shows a lot of similar traits to her. Meaghan is an incredibly dynamic player and athlete. She keeps getting better each year”
Robertson has proved herself to be one of the top middles in the province and in the country. Last year she was a main part of the Brandon Storms Under-17 National Championship.
“Meaghan has been able to compete against the best players in her age class and come out ahead,” says Bobcats assistant coach, Derek Richels.
Both Carter and Richels expect that Robertson will be able to step in and contribute right away in her first year. Before that though, she is hoping to help Crocus repeat as provincial champions next month.
“With Brandon University’s education program and the success of the volleyball teams, it made sense to stay in Brandon” says Robertson, who is hoping to become a teacher.
