Secure cycle compound sees spring surge

Bikes are stored behind a chain-link fence.

With spring’s arrival, Brandon University is seeing more interest for use of the secure bicycle compound on campus. The bike compound is located at the southeast corner of Parking Lot 1, where McMaster Hall meets the Knowles Douglas Centre (just behind the white Geology building). It is a central location that is convenient to the Courtyard.

The secure bike compound is located near the heart of campus.

Surrounded by eight-foot high climb-resistant fencing, monitored by high-resolution camera, and secured by magnetic locks, the compound contains custom-built steel racks that can accommodate several dozen bikes.

Existing Users:

For faculty and staff, access to the bike compound should have been added to your BU key fob and will not expire. If you have any issues gaining access to the compound this season, please email ancillary@brandonu.ca and they can investigate. Please include in your email 5 digit number on the back of your key fob.

For students, access to the bike compound is linked to your student card, and must be renewed every year. It expires on the same date as your student card.

New Users:

Please complete the form located on the bike parking website and you will be contacted to arrange for the setup of your electronic access.

All Users:

You should always use a lock on your bike even when it is parked inside the compound. Although BU tries very hard to keep this area secure, we have had the misfortune of theft due to breach of the area on occasion. Please take every precaution when leaving your bike in storage.

Bikes are a fast, convenient and healthy option for commuting and Brandon University encourages cycling as much as possible.

If you have any questions, please email ancillary@brandonu.ca and we will get back to you right away.
