Dr. Christine Cnossen appointed next BU President and Vice-Chancellor

The following announcement has been issued by Kevan Sumner, Chair of the Brandon University Board of Governors, and Chair of the Presidential Search Committee:

On behalf of the Board of Governors and the Presidential Search Committee, I am honoured to announce the appointment of Dr. Christine Cnossen as the next President and Vice-Chancellor of Brandon University.

Dr. Cnossen is an accomplished academic and senior university executive with more than 25 years of experience in higher education leadership across Canada and the United Kingdom.

President Docherty to conclude term in early 2026

Brandon University President Dr. David Docherty has notified the BU Board of Governors that he will conclude his second term as President in early 2026.

After notifying the board, he shared the information with campus in an email and at both the campus-wide Fall Address and General Faculty Council.

Brandon University President and Vice-Chancellor Dr. David Docherty has been renewed for a second five-year term.

The renewal was unanimously approved by the BU Board of Governors at their June meeting, and an official contract was signed this week.

The Mel and Ruth Turnbull Trust is providing identical endowments of $261,589 to both institutions in support of student awards.
