The Brandon University is saddened by the recent passing of Mitch Podolak, and offers condolences to his family and friends, and to all those who have been touched by his incomparable contributions to Canada’s music scene.
Podolak received an honorary doctorate from Brandon University in 2015, recognizing his service and leadership to Canada’s renowned folk festival culture.

With most classes getting underway tomorrow, today’s Orientation sessions were set aside for incoming new students to get to know each other and the campus, while learning about the support services available to help them have a great and successful first year.

Brandon University has approved a new Centre for Critical Studies of Rural Mental Health to accelerate the already growing number of studies on rural and remote mental health and wellness at Brandon University, link research results to people who can use them, and support education and community engagement in relation to mental health.
The centre, housed in the Faculty of Health Studies, will serve as a point of contact and network for academics, researchers, students, community members, professionals, educators and the broad range of people who live with and support people living with mental health problems.
