BRANDON, MB – Brandon University is pleased to announce that Russ Paddock has been named Athletic Director of Brandon University effective immediately.
After spending the past nine months as acting Athletic Director, Paddock will now assume the role on a permanent basis.

Brandon, MB — The Rural Development Institute (RDI) has received renewed financial support from Manitoba Agriculture, Food and Rural Initiatives (MAFRI). On hand to accept the cheque were Dr. Scott Grills, Vice-President Academic and Provost of Brandon University, Dr. William Ashton, Director of RDI and representing the provincial government was Drew Caldwell, MLA for Brandon East.

BRANDON, MB — The 2011-2012 pro series, an annual presentation by the School of Music, continues with a recital featuring violinist Kerry DuWors and pianist Futaba Niekawa. Their programme will include duo works by Mozart, Fauré, Debussy, Enesco and Stockhausen.

BRANDON, MB — The Brandon University Opera Ensemble, under the co-direction of School of Music Assistant Professor David Playfair and sessional instructor Gordon Portman, presents a new adaptation of Mozart’s comic opera, “The Marriage of Figaro”. This is the Opera Ensemble’s third full-length production — Mozart’s Cosi fan tutte was produced in 2008 and Britten’s Albert Herring in 2010.

BRANDON, MB — A play about Afghanistan, written by Brandon University Drama Professor James Forsythe, will be performed in Montreal. He has established a script development agreement with Teesri Duniya Theatre, in Montreal, to workshop his play script entitled “Safer Ground”.

BRANDON, MB — Continuing the second semester’s offerings within the BU Science Seminar Series will be Dr. Shannon Gadbois, of the Department of Psychology at BU. Her talk, entitled “Extracurricular activities involvement in Canadian youth: Benefits based on age, gender and type of activity”, will be given on Friday, March 16, at 3 p.m., in Room 447 of the Brodie Building.

BRANDON, MB — A Brandon University alumnus, Dr. Martin Lemaire will be returning to his alma mater as the newest Canada Research Chair (CRC) on faculty. Currently teaching chemistry at Brock University, beginning May 1, 2012, Dr. Lemaire will be the CRC in Molecular Spintronic Materials for the next five years in Brandon.

BRANDON, MB – Another great year of competition has concluded for the Brandon University Bobcats, and just like in all previous years, BU Athletics will hand out annual individual awards, acknowledge career milestones, and congratulate graduating players on their years of dedication to the Bobcats at the year-end awards banquet.
All Bobcat fans are invited to join the celebration of another successful year at this year’s banquet.

BRANDON, MB — Drs. Dean Care and Fran Racher, of the Brandon University School of Health Studies, together with a team of faculty members, have been awarded a one-year grant with the Knowledge Translation Supplement (KTS), a program of the Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR).
Their project, entitled “Integrated Knowledge Translation Fosters Partnerships as Rural Postsecondary Students Collaborate to Improve the Health of their Campus Communities” has been awarded a grant of $89,293.
“This new funding will enable our research team to continue our work on improving the quality of life, health, and well-being of our university and college students.
