Brandon University (BU) is pleased by a provincial pledge to support Indigenous Education with additional funding earmarked for that purpose.
The province announced today that Indigenous Education in Manitoba would be supported by specific new money, on top of a 2.5 per cent increase in general operating grants.

Brandon University (BU) is mourning the loss of Len Evans, a member of BU’s Board of Governors and a former Department of Economics faculty member.
Evans, who served Manitoba and the Brandon East constituency for 30 years as a Member of the Legislative Assembly, passed away on Saturday at the age of 86.
“Len was a great contributor to Brandon University and the community,” said BU Board of Governors Chair Derrick Stewart.

Long-serving employees and those departing BU were honoured at a special afternoon in December.
In total, more than 20 retirees with more than 500 years of combined service were honoured at the afternoon event, as well as dozens of people recognized for achieving milestones of 10 years or longer.

The Brandon University community raised a total of $3,453 for Brandon and Westman Christmas Cheer this year.
The money, raised through a staff-organized basket raffle will go towards holiday hampers in the region.
